We are always keeping our eyes peeled for the next interesting avenue for engaging with our audiences and potential audiences for our new mobile application WinkPark. That’s the reason our company SPARKING showed up at the SmartCity Forum Conference that took place in March in Warsaw, Poland. The conference is the answer to the transformation which is taking place on a global scale, concerning the building and functioning of cities, which are becoming more and more intelligent. And yes, we’ve fitted there perfectly!
In 2015 the Polish car fleet numbered 17 million cars. Bloomberg reports that 84 million cars were sold worldwide in 2016, almost double the number of cars sold over the last 16 years since 2000. And the future looks gloomy because till 2035 that number probably will reach 2 billion! Sounds crazy, isn’t it?
How in this world can we find a free spot to park our vehicle? Regarding UNECE report only in Poland for 1000 citizens, we have 539 cars. So let’s face it – parking in a big city is always a pain and often involves driving around in circles for at least 15 minutes trying to find that one open spot. Then when we think we find a spot, we get there and see that it’s taken by a small vehicle we couldn’t see farther down the lane or another driver is waiting to take it. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a mobile app that directed us to an open spot without all the guesswork?
The smart parking industry continues to evolve as an increasing number of cities struggle with traffic congestion and inadequate parking availability. That’s why it was one of the main topics at SmartCity Forum Conference and that’s the reason that we’ve decided to talk a bit more about our new application WinkPark. How does it work?
Our application – with huge help from drivers – turns into some kind of a navigation device or an urban parking guide. The app shows all free spots and keeps tracking them. If any spot opens, the app immediately notifies the driver about it.
It is the strength and accuracy of the algorithms and applications that make for a successful smart parking deployment. Data capture in and of itself is not very useful; however, capturing real-time data enables adopters to truly optimize their parking real estate.
– says Sparking Sp. z o.o CEO, Piotr Kowalczyk.
As shown by a study, every car driver wastes on average about 100 hours a year looking for a parking space, which accounts for one-third of city center traffic. That’s why we are 100% sure that WinkPark app will for sure improve car drivers’ city life.
